Q: How do you create your portraits?
A: All of my portraits are based on photography. I start with a photo of a person and proceed to render it accurately onto paper, using pencil, charcoal and eraser. With appropriate shading and lightening, I can achieve a rather 3D effect. I like to minimize the surroundings and amplify the person(s) in the center where the attention should be. The simplicity of the pencil-drawn sketch technique has always been my specialty. I just take it to the next level.
Q: What photos should I select for my portrait?
A: You're welcome to submit one or more photos to me and I'll help you decide on the one(s) on which I can do the best work. I always tell clients to choose photos that you feel a strong emotional connection with and that you'll want to look at again and again!
Q: Can I combine parts of separate photos?
A: Yes, it's possible to combine parts of separate photos, if you like.
Q: How do I send my photos to you?
A: Simply select your photo(s) and paste them into an email to me (firstname.lastname@example.org). I'll take it from there. I'll always communicate back to you which one(s) I can do the best.
Q: How long does it take to do a portrait?
A: Once payment has been successfully received, your portrait project begins! Depending on the complexity of the photos you send me, as well as the total number of people or pets you'd like me to draw, the project may take anywhere from 1–4 weeks to complete. (Please allow one additional week for shipping and delivery.)
